November 11th 2008, Vota released their self-titled debut
album. Unlike most groups in this situation, Vota is not new to the game.
Formerly known as Casting Pearls, the group felt they needed a change and
a fresh start.
“With
Casting Crowns having such a name in the Christian music industry, we felt
at this point being named anything that starts with Casting may cause some
confusion,” jokes Bryan Olesen in the group’s press release.
“We felt it best to set ourselves apart from the possible
puzzlement and start fresh.”
The
album that they have offered is a great, fun album that showcases their
new sound beautifully. Tracks from the album are reminiscent of groups
like Maroon 5, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Relient K.
It is no wonder why this album is shooting up the charts.
